The leaves are falling everywhere, and it’s actually starting to look like fall. Clocks go back tonight!
No, Halloween did not come early. This was part of an action I took part in involving students from York, UofT, and Ryerson. This guy is dressed up as Dalton McGuinty, the premier of Ontario.
We turned the main hall at York University into a mock crime scene yesterday as promotion for our upcoming Day of Action.
So there was a bomb threat at York yesterday, and I was in the thick of it. We were leafleting students in Vari Hall at the time that they evacuated, so we continued to engaged students as they hung around outside for almost two hours.
It was my birthday yesterday, and we had cake! And tacos! And presents! Yay!
A nice house on Dupont Street, after Candice and I had an excellent pre-birthday (raw!) dinner at Live.
There were over 4000 events held internationally yesterday to support the 350 campaign, and I took part in the one in Toronto. While many people decided to attend the zombie walk instead (bad timing), the turnout was great and the weather held out.
From Wikipedia:
350.org is an international environmental organization, with the goal of cutting atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions to 80% by 2050. The current level is 389 ppm of CO2. The pre-industrial revolution level was 278 ppm. In 1988 the earth’s atmosphere surpassed the 350 ppm mark.
The weather’s been pretty gross the past couple of days. Sometimes ducking into a bus shelter for a minute or two is necessary.
Campus activism, banner making, tabling, petition signing…
and yesterday Candice came out to help!
A car speeds out of the campus as night falls a little earlier every day.
