Spiral

Spiral staircases are wicked.

However, I’ve never really understood the ugly (and I really mean ugly) gold statue (that may or may not be made by paper mache) that stands at the bottom of the stairs.

Autumn

The rain is falling, and so are the leaves, and everything is mucky.

What’s the story, Wishbone?

Word on the Street

Lovers of the written word from all around Toronto flocked to Queen’s Park yesterday to take part in Word on the Street, a festival dedicated to writing, writers, books and magazines.

ps. Wishbone is was one of my favorite shows when I was little young a teenager… okay I think I’d still like it.

This pretty much sums up the day:

Leaping over the (Forest) Fire

Oh No Forest Fires

I ran into some more Newfoundlanders last night at Lee’s Palace. I was there to see a band called Oh No Forest Fires, as well as a couple others that played with them. Running into people from Newfoundland is always really fun.

The lead singer (pictured leaping above) is actually from St. John’s, and he had some Newfoundland relics littered across the stage.

Trails tell Tails

The sky here is just way too bright to take sky pictures.

However, you can get cool pictures like this.

Last night was part two of Yorkfest, the annual free concert. This year the show featured K’Naan, a singer/rapper from Somalia (via Toronto). I’m not usually into rap, but his music touches on a lot of political and social issues. Plus his beats are sick (or something else that the kids say).

This little guy in the picture was up on someone’s shoulders for a large part of the night. It took me a couple tries (23, actually) to get this shot).

Yorkfest

So. This was YorkFest.

YorkFest is a day where a thousand student clubs set up tables along this long pathway on campus to advertise their events or to attract new members. This is crazy enough, but there are a large number of companies and businesses that also set up tables and tents to promote themselves. This all makes for one crazy hectic walk down one of the main pathways on campus.

Rooftop

On my way home from ballet class, I hunted around a bit for a picture. I ended up taking the elevator to the top of the parking garage to see what I could see. This is what I saw.

Night Falls

It’s been getting dark a lot earlier these days. I heard that Fall starts soon.
